Flight Delayed? How to Handle Airport Pickup
If the flight you are meeting is delayed, do not leave home until the live data says it is close, and then allow time for landing, immigration and baggage. A live tracker and the airline’s status together tell you when to go.
Check before you leave
- Open the flight on the tracking page and see if it is in the air.
- Check the airline’s official status for the estimated arrival time.
- Look at the airport’s arrivals board: for example Karachi arrivals.
Time your trip
- Flight airborne and on time: leave when the flight is about 45 to 60 minutes from landing, depending on your travel time.
- Flight delayed: re-check every 15 to 30 minutes, and note that estimated times change; see why ETA changes.
- Flight landed: add time for disembarking, immigration, baggage and customs, which can take more than an hour on international arrivals.
Waiting
Find the pickup area; see the airport guides for the main airports, including pickup and drop-off at Karachi.
