Islamabad Airport (ISB) Pickup & Drop-Off Guide

For a smooth pickup or drop-off at Islamabad International Airport, track the flight, agree a meeting point and allow for traffic and arrival formalities. The airport is roughly 20 to 26 km from the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, near Fateh Jang, and is reached via the motorway network. Allow about 30 to 50 minutes by car depending on traffic.

Before you leave home

  1. Track the flight on the ISB arrivals board or the tracking page.
  2. Wait for the flight to show as landed; see landed vs arrived.
  3. Add time for the passenger to clear immigration and baggage: more than an hour on international arrivals is common.

Where to wait

At Pakistani airports, visitors generally wait outside the arrivals area rather than inside the terminal. Follow the signs and the instructions of airport staff, because pickup areas and rules can change. We do not hold verified details of the current pickup zones at ISB, so check the airport’s signage and website.

Drop-off

  • Arrive early for departures; see how early to arrive.
  • Use the drop-off area and keep moving so traffic flows.
  • Say your goodbyes outside the departures entrance, since only passengers usually go inside.

If the flight is delayed

Safety

Be careful with strangers offering rides or help with bags for money. Use pre-arranged transport, ride-hailing apps or official transport; see Islamabad airport to city.
