How Early Should You Arrive at the Airport in Pakistan?
As a general guide, arrive about two hours before a domestic flight and about three hours before an international flight at Pakistani airports. Your airline’s instructions on the ticket take priority, because check-in cut-off times differ by airline and airport.
Why earlier is better
Airports in Pakistan can have long queues at entrances, check-in, security and immigration, especially at peak times such as Eid, Hajj and Umrah seasons, and early morning departures. Check-in desks close before departure, and late passengers can be refused boarding.
Typical guidance
- Domestic flights: about 2 hours before departure; check-in usually closes 45 to 60 minutes before.
- International flights: about 3 hours before departure; check-in usually closes about 60 minutes before.
- Peak times and large groups: add extra time.
- Hajj and Umrah flights: follow the airline’s and the organiser’s instructions, which often require earlier arrival.
Confirm these times with your airline, as they vary.
Before you leave home
- Check your flight status on the day.
- Check the weather: fog can cause delays, but delays can also be short notice, so do not skip arriving on time.
- Have your documents ready: ticket, ID or passport, visa and any required forms.
- Know your terminal; see gate vs terminal.
