Hajj Flight Schedule Explained

Hajj flights from Pakistan run in two phases: outbound flights before Hajj, carrying pilgrims to Saudi Arabia, and return flights after Hajj, bringing them home. The exact dates depend on the lunar calendar and on the arrangements of the government scheme and tour operators.

Two phases

  • Pre-Hajj (outbound): pilgrims fly from Pakistani airports to Jeddah or Madinah over several weeks before Hajj.
  • Post-Hajj (return): after the rituals, pilgrims fly home, usually from Jeddah or Madinah.

Who flies and how it is arranged

Pakistani pilgrims travel under the government scheme or through registered private tour operators. The Ministry of Religious Affairs announces the arrangements. Airlines are allocated flights, and several airlines, Pakistani and Saudi, operate them. Your tour operator or the official notice tells you your flight and date.

Why dates move

Hajj follows the Islamic lunar calendar, so its dates fall about 11 days earlier in the Gregorian calendar each year. The schedule is set by the authorities and may change.

Where flights depart

Hajj flights operate from major airports such as Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Quetta, Multan and others. Check which airport serves your group.

What to expect

  • Large groups and early arrival requirements at the airport.
  • Special baggage rules; see Umrah flight baggage rules for general guidance.
  • Heavy traffic at the destination airports.
