How to Check if Your Flight Is Delayed

To check whether your flight is delayed, start with the airline’s official status for your flight and date, then confirm with airport screens and a live tracker. The airline’s status is the authority.

1. The airline

Use the airline’s website or app, or phone the contact centre. Look for the scheduled and estimated times, and any message about a delay or gate change. See how to check PIA flight status.

2. Airport screens

Flight information screens at the airport show updated times and gates. Many airports also publish information online.

3. Live tracking

On a tracker, check:

  • Is the aircraft in the air? If it should have left but is on the ground, expect a delay.
  • Where is the aircraft that will operate your flight? If it arrives late from another city, your flight will probably leave late. This is the most common reason for delay.
  • Is it heading to your airport? Compare its position with the expected arrival.

Use the tracking page and airport boards such as Lahore departures.

4. Check the weather

Fog, storms and dust cause many delays. See the airport weather page for live METAR and TAF.

5. Keep your phone on

Airlines send SMS or email updates; keep contact details in your booking up to date.
